PAY

The annual salary range for Police Officer is $91,055- $124,099. Actual salary will be dependent on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.

MEDICAL

A variety of plans are offered through CalPERS. The City contributes up to $1,200 per month to active employees, and the employee pays the difference.

RETIREE MEDICAL

The City contributes up to $1,200 per month for post-retirement medical insurance premium costs.

CAFETERIA PLAN

The City provides an $300 per month (1/1/23) credit for any benefit covered under the Cafeteria plan.

PAID TIME OFF

Sick Leave: 72 hours per year.

PTO: 234 hours first year; progresses up to 298 hours per year based on years of service.

DENTAL AND VISION

City-paid for active employee and dependents.

CALPERS RETIREMENT

2.7% @ 57 (PEPRA)

3% @ 50 (Classic)

DEFERRED COMPENSATION

City offers $100 per month match for all employees. The City also contributes $200 per month to PEPRA employees, no match required.

EDUCATION

These incentives are non-cumulative and are paid at the highest rate for which an employee is qualified. All incentive amounts are per month.

Completion of 60 college units (40 units must

be job-related) - $65.00

EMD Certificate - $75.00

Associate’s Degree (any major) - $75.00

Intermediate POST - $175.00

BA/BS (any major) - $150.00

Advanced POST - $225.00

BA/BS and Advanced POST - $275.00

Tuition Reimbursement - The maximum amount eligible for reimbursement is $1,050.00 per fiscal year.

SPECIALTY DUTY PAY

FTO: 5% of base rate of pay for all hours worked as a trainer.

SWAT, MAIT, CINT Negotiator: 5% of base rate of pay for all hours worked.

Detective: 5% of base hourly rate x 80 hours

Corporal: 7.5% of base hourly rate x 80 hours.

POST Instructor: 5% of base hourly rate for instruction time.

On-Call: $1.25 per hour.

SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL

2.5 Percent of base salary for hours worked.

PATROL SCHEDULE

  • Four 10-hour shifts, Monday thru Thursday

Or

  • Three 12.5-hour shifts, Friday thru Sunday

  • Shift rotations occur twice per year and selections are made in order of seniority.

  • On duty workout program is offered to each officer, providing a one-hour workout at the beginning or ending of each shift.

Providing citizens with the highest quality service begins with proper training. We provide excellent resources and opportunities to do just that.

In house state-of-the-art shooting range. The range is available to all officers and training rounds are provided each month.

Dedicated mat-room for defensive tactics training.

Good policing requires good health. Our gym provides quality equipment and a fun atmosphere to stay in peak shape. Paid (1hr) on-duty workouts provided as part of your shift.
