PAY

The annual salary range for a Police Officer is $94,734- $129,112. Actual salary will be dependent on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.

MEDICAL

For full-time regular employees, the City will provide a cafeteria contribution towards the employee's medical plan set at 100% of the Kaiser Employee + 1 coverage level ($2,337.72 for 2026), minus the PEMHCA minimum contribution.

RETIREE MEDICAL

The City contributes up to $1,200 per month toward post-retirement medical insurance premiums.

CAFETERIA PLAN FLEX $

Employees who elect a medical plan with a lower monthly premium than that of the Kaiser +1 plan or employees who waive medical insurance through the City shall be eligible to receive up to $300/month (employees will only receive the difference between the lower monthly premium and the City’s monthly contribution, to a maximum of $300.) Employees may elect to allocate their Flex Dollars to any of the pre-tax qualified benefits offered by the City under the Section 125 plan.

PAID TIME OFF

Hours earned per year of service:

0 – 1 year: 56 hours per year/2.1539 per pay period (hours)

1+ years: 72 hours per year/2.7693 per pay period (hours)

PTO: 234 hours first year; progresses up to 298 hours per year based on years of service.

DENTAL AND VISION

City-paid for active employee and dependents.

CALPERS RETIREMENT

2.7% @ 57 (PEPRA)

3% @ 50 (Classic)

DEFERRED COMPENSATION

City offers $100 per month match for all employees. The City also contributes $200 per month to PEPRA employees, no match required.

EDUCATION

These incentives are non-cumulative and are paid at the highest rate for which an employee is qualified. All incentive amounts are per month.

EMD Certificate - $75.00

Associate’s Degree (any major) - $275.00

Intermediate POST - $400.00

BA/BS (any major) - $350.00

Advanced POST - $600.00

BA/BS and Advanced POST - $950.00

Tuition Reimbursement - The maximum amount eligible for reimbursement is $1,050.00 per fiscal year.

SPECIALTY DUTY PAY

FTO: 5% of the base rate of pay for all hours worked as a trainer.

SWAT, MAIT, CINT Negotiator: 5% of the base rate of pay for all hours worked.

Detective: 5% of base hourly rate x 80 hours

Corporal: 7.5% of base hourly rate x 80 hours.

POST Instructor: 5% of base hourly rate for instruction time.

On-Call: $1.25 per hour.

SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL

2.5 Percent of base salary for hours worked.

PATROL SCHEDULE

  • Four 10-hour shifts, Monday thru Thursday

Or

  • Three 12.5-hour shifts, Friday thru Sunday

  • Shift rotations occur twice per year and selections are made in order of seniority.

  • On duty workout program is offered to each officer, providing a one-hour workout at the beginning or ending of each shift.

Training

Providing citizens with the highest quality service begins with proper training. We provide excellent resources and opportunities to do just that.
